Seeking to take part in the petroleum projects in Iraq, Egypt has formed a delegation of oil companies.
The delegation will have talks with Iraqi officials, the date for which has not been finalized, the official Egyptian news agency MENA quoted the country's minister of petroleum Sameh Fahmi as saying on Tuesday.
Egypt is interested in developing oil fields, refineries, pipelines, and production pads in Iraq.
The two Arab nations have reached a deal on strategic cooperation in petroleum-based industries, according to Fahmi.
Fahmi and foreign minister Ahmed Abul Gheit paid a landmark visit to Baghdad last week in an effort to promote bilateral ties between the two countries.
During their meeting with Iraqi oil minister Hussein al-Shahristani, both sides agreed on advancing cooperation in the fields of oil and gas.
The agreement to reopen the Egyptian embassy in Baghdad after a break of three years was an important development in bilateral relations.
