German soldiers, children killed in suicide bombing in Afghanistan

A suicide bombing on a NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) convoy in northern Afghanistan killed two German soldiers and five children, reports quoting ISAF and provincial leader said.

The bomber, riding on a bicycle, blew himself up next to the convoy in the Chardara district, south of Kunduz city, on Monday.

The children were playing nearby when the attack took place.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

The death toll of German soldiers is lower than that the terrorist group claimed, as it often exaggerates casualty figures for Afghan and foreign forces.

The incident occurs four days after the German parliament approved the government's decision to extend the presence of its troops in Afghanistan for another 14 months and to deploy additional 1000 soldiers.
