Banco Bradesco Posts Higher Net Income in Nine-Month Period - Update

Banco Bradesco S.A. (BBD) Monday reported higher income in its nine-month period. Of this, 65% or R$3.917 billion came from financial activities and 35% or R$2.098 billion from Insurance and Private Pension Plans activities.

The Osasco, Brazil-based bank's nine-month reported net income rose 3.4% to R$6.015 billion from R$5.817 billion in the nine months ended in 2007. Earnings per share were R$1.96. Adjusted net income increased 8.6% to R$5,819 million from last year's R$5,356 million.

Year-to-date revenues from financial intermediation was R$40.543 billion, 33.2% higher than R$30.431 billion in the comparable quarter of last year.

As of September 30, market capitalization was R$88.777 billion, and total assets increased 33.1% year-over-year to R$422.706 billion. Expanded Loan Portfolio stood 40.8% higher at R$197.250 billion over last year's, with loans to individuals up 28.7% and to corporate clients up 48.5%.

The company's Total Funds Raised and Managed climbed 26.3% higher at R$571.740 billion, when compared with R$452.698 billion in the prior-year period. Shareholders' Equity grew 17% year-over-year to R$34.168 billion.

Remuneration to shareholders in the form of Interest on Shareholders' Capital and Dividends paid and provisioned in the period was R$2.072 billion, corresponding to 34.4% of net income.

BBD closed Friday's regular trading on NYSE at $8.46, down $1.19, with a volume of 14.91 million shares.
