French Current Account Deficit Narrows in September

The French current account deficit in September narrowed to EUR4 billion from EUR4.2 billion in August, the Bank of France revealed Thursday. The deficit stood above the expected shortfall of EUR3.8 billion.

In September, trade in goods recorded a deficit of EUR6.4 billion, larger than August's EUR5.7 billion. On the other hand, the services surplus doubled to EUR1.6 billion from EUR0.8 billion and revenues increased to EUR2.7 billion from EUR2.6 billion in the previous month. Further, the bank said the current transfers showed a negative balance of EUR1.9 billion, the same as in August.
