The staging of cricket's inaugural Champions League Twenty20 competition is postponed to next October in the wake of last month's terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
The shortest version of the game, scheduled to be held in the Indian metro cities of Mumbai, Bangaluru, and Chennai from December 3 to 10 this year, was canceled due to security concerns, according to a statement released by Indian Premier League.
The Governing Council, comprising the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Cricket Australia, and Cricket South Africa, revised the itinerary, also considering the international calendar and the domestic schedules of the participating teams.
Eight teams from five countries--England, India, Australia, Pakistan, and South Africa--were originally scheduled to take part in this year's tournament.
Six teams, two from each of the founding Board members, are confirmed as next year's participants. Other two teams will be finalized by next month, said the event's chairman Lalit Modi.
