Tuesday, the Statistics Estonia announced that the trade deficit stood at EEK 2.5 billion in October, narrowing from the EEK 3.1 billion recorded in the previous month. A year ago, the trade deficit was EEK 1.9 billion.
Exports value rose 13% to EEK 13.2 billion in October from EEK 11.7 billion recorded in the previous year. The increase was mainly due to rise in the re-exports of fuels by nearly one billion kroons.
At the same time, the value of imports declined 3%, or EEK 0.4 billion to EEK 15.7 billion. The decline was caused by the decrease in demand for several commodity sections in the domestic market.
