Kazakhstan has demanded that the perpetrators of the November 26-29 Mumbai terror attacks be brought to justice at the earliest, and called for intensified global co-operation to combat the menace of terrorism, media reports said.
President Nursultan Nazarbayev, on an official visit to New Delhi as the chief guest at the Indian Republic Day celebrations Monday, conveyed an assurance that Kazakhstan stood firmly with India in dealing with the scourge of global terrorism, said a statement after his talks with President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
President Patil, speaking at a banquet in honor of the visiting dignitary termed Kazakhstan to be a valuable partner in the fight against terrorism.
Both the countries also called for an early conclusion of the comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism within the U.N. framework. They underlined the vast array of the existing areas of cooperation, including the critical areas of energy and food security and the immense possibilities that existed for their expansion.
Both sides also agreed to establish and develop a strategic partnership based on the principles of sovereignty and equality.
