Monday, life sciences company Millipore Corp. (MIL) announced entering into an agreement to buy Guava Technologies, a provider of bench top cell analysis systems for $22.6 million.
Millipore expects the transaction to slightly add to its Non-GAAP earnings in fiscal 2009, and to close in the next two weeks.
Hayward, California-based Guava Technologies is the manufacturer of the commercial microcapillary flow cytometry system, which enables scientists to conduct flow cytometry using a small, bench top instrument.
Jonathan DiVincenzo, the president of Millipore's Bioscience Division stated, "Our vision is to make flow cytometry less expensive, easier to use, and more accessible for all research scientists."
MIL is currently trading up 30 cents at $55.46.
