Saturday, militants attacked a NATO terminal in Peshawar, northwest Pakistan damaging at least 12 shipping containers of supplies to NATO soldiers in Afghanistan. The attack took place in the early hours of the day at the Farhad terminal with the fighters fleeing upon police firing.
The militants are reported to have fired four rockets on the terminal after which a fire broke out destroying several trucks parked in the vicinity. Fire fighters had to be brought in to control the fire. Some reports suggest at least seven containers were destroyed in the attack.
NATO forces get almost 75% of their supplies through routes across Pakistan's tribal regions that are infested with militants owing allegiance of Taliban. NATO supplies have been the target of militant attacks several times late last year, with hundreds of trucks and containers carrying goods for NATO forces destroyed.
