Avanti Communications Group Plc (AVN.L) said it received contract from Hutchison 3G Ireland Ltd. to supply them under the Irish Government's National Broadband Scheme. The contract has an expected value of 5.3 million euros, or GBP 4.6milion over 3 years.
The National Broadband Scheme is designed to bring broadband services to communities in Ireland, which are out of the reach of terrestrial alternatives. The company will concentrate to serve the rural areas where ADSL and Mobile broadband will not reach.
Avanti would commence services on leased capacity, transferring to its own HYLAS satellite after its launch.
