3 Doors Down's Todd Harrell Thinks The Internet Is A 'Double Edged Sword'

3 Doors Down bassist Todd Harrell thinks that the internet has changed the music industry, saying in a recent interview that the internet's effect on the music industry is both positive and negative.

"You know, the Internet is a tool that's changed things. You can say good things and bad things about it. It is a way to get the music out there. It's kind of a double-bladed sword. On one hand, the internet is a great tool for unknown artists to be discovered. On the other hand, the internet is a detriment to artists who are already established by hurting them in their bank accounts. It definitely affects the pocketbook."

Although the band's latest album Time of My Life hit number one on Billboard's Hard Rock and Alternative charts, Harrell says its not the same as it used to be.

"The record [is] doing great, but times have changed in the record business. There are so many different ways to sell music. You just have to kind of roll with the changes. Nobody sells records like in the past."
