Electronic components and solar power systems maker Kyocera Corporation (KYO) Tuesday said it has completed a share transfer agreement with three investment funds operated by Japan Industrial Partners, Inc. to buy all shares of Optrex Corporation, a manufacturer of Liquid Crystal Displays or LCDs and related products.
Through the acquisition, Kyocera aims to strengthen and expand its LCD and touchscreen business. Optrex will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Kyocera, effective February 1, 2012.
Kyocera shares last traded on December 23 at $78.95 on the New York Stock Exchange.
