Is Oprah Winfrey The Godmother To Jay-Z And Beyoncé's Baby?

Jay-Z and Beyoncé have reportedly decided to name Oprah Winfrey as the godmother to their baby daughter Blue Ivy, according to a report by Mediatakeout.com, though a recent report by Us Weekly is denying the claim.

When asked by Us about the story, a rep for Beyoncé declined to comment, but Winfrey's best friend Gayle King cleared things up Friday morning on CBS' The Early Show.

"It's absolutely not true that she's the godmother," King explained. "She's friends with them, of course, and likes them both very much. She's working on sending them a baby gift. She hasn't even had time to send a baby gift because she's been away. Let me just say, if (that report is) true, it is news to her. It is news to her. You know, she was heading to South Africa when the baby was born."

Jay-Z has given the honor to be the tot's godfather to his best friend, Tyran "Ty Ty" Smith. The couple reportedly wanted to make sure that Blue's godparents are not blood-related.

Blue Ivy was born earlier this month at Manhattan's Lenox Hill Hospital.
