Biglari Holdings Inc. (BH) reported net income for the first quarter of $8.8 million or $6.58 per share, down from last year's $9.5 million or $7.08 per share.
Net sales for the quarter increased 5.5 percent to $161,516 from $153,059 a year ago, mainly due to the strong performance of the company's restaurant operations, which was driven by a 5.5 percent increase in same-store sales at Steak n Shake.
