Natalie Portman is reportedly in talks to work as an executive producer on a new television adaptation of Judith Krantz's 1978 drama novel "Scruples." According to a report from thewrap.com, ABC has committed to a pilot of the would-be soap, which also ran as a mini-series in 1980.
The network is billing the pilot as a "sexy soap set in the late 1970s." The story reportedly "follows a socialite who, following the death of her husband, seeks to open a fashion forward boutique in the heart of Beverly Hills."
The project is a collaboration between Flame Ventures LLC and Warner Bros. Television. The pilot will be directed by former Imagine TV CEO Tony Krantz, Judith's son, who will also executive produce with Portman. The adaptation was penned by Bob Brush and Mel Harris.
