Stephen Colbert's satirical presidential bid has raised over $1 million.
The talk show host's presidential action committee or "Super PAC"—which is now known officially as Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow — filed over $1,023,121.24 with the Federal Election Commission as of Tuesday morning. The funds have been used to fund various commercials, including a spot that equated Mitt Romney with a serial killer.
An accompanying press release by the PAC's communications director (dubbed Alberto Rèalnamè): "We raised it on my show and used it to materially influence the elections - in full accordance with the law. It's the way our founding fathers would have wanted it, if they had founded corporations instead of just a country."
Among the PAC's celebrity donors are Gavin Newsom (lieutenant governor of California), "Hot in Cleveland's" Laura Sangiacomo, and "The West Wing's" Bradley Whitford.
