Greece sold more debt than it targeted at an auction on Tuesday and at lower cost, even as talks regarding a write down of the country's debt continue.

The debt agency PDMA placed EUR 812.5 million of 26-week Treasury bills against the auction target of EUR 625 million. The sale attracted bids totaling EUR 1.701 billion.

The yield on the 6-month paper declined to 4.86 percent from 4.90 in the previous auction on January 10. However, demand declined as the bid-to-cover ratio slid to 2.72 from 2.80.
