Several Taliban, Haqqani Militants Held In Afghan Joint Operations

Several leaders and operatives of Taliban, Haqqani terror networks were arrested by Afghan and coalition security forces in various regions of Afghanistan on Tuesday.

A Taliban leader, who moved supplies for fighters and directed an insurgent cell specializing in bomb attacks throughout the Helmand province was captured in Nahr-e Saraj district, the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in a joint command operational update. A suspected insurgent was detained during the operation.

Several suspected insurgents were taken into custody during an operation in Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand province. Multiple suspected insurgents were detained during an operation in Washir district of the same province.

Three militants, including a Taliban facilitator who supplied insurgents with explosives for use in attacks throughout Arghandab district, were captured during an operation in the southern province of Kandahar.

Multiple suspected insurgents were detained during an operation in search of a Taliban leader in Maiwand district, Kandahar province. Two militants were arrested in Shah Joy and Qalat districts, Zabul province.

A Haqqani Network leader, who conducted attacks against Afghan forces in the eastern province of Logar, was captured during an operation in Pul-e 'Alam district.

Another leader of the network, who directed roadside bomb and direct-fire attacks against Afghan security forces, was arrested in a separate operation in the same region.

A Haqqani Network facilitator, who supplied insurgent fighters with explosives for use in attacks against Afghan forces, was captured during an operation in Khost district, Khost province. Two additional suspected insurgents were detained during the operation.
