O'Reilly Automotive Q4 Earnings Rise, Top Estimate; Guides Q1, FY12

O'Reilly Automotive, Inc. (ORLY) reported net income for the fourth quarter of $123.0 million or $0.94 per share, compared to $105.8 million or $0.74 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, adjusted net income for the fourth quarter was $121.2 million or $0.93 per share, compared to $98.5 million or $0.69 per share in the prior year quarter.

Sales for the fourth quarter increased 6% to $1.39 billion from $1.31 billion a year ago.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.85 per share on revenue of $1.41 billion for the fourth quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Looking forward, the company forecast first quarter earnings of $0.99 to $1.03 per share. The company expects first quarter same-store sales to grow 4% to 6%. Analysts currently expect the company to earn $1.00 per share for the first quarter.

For the full year 2012, the company forecast revenue of $6.15 billion to $6.25 billion and earnings of $4.27 to $4.37 per share. Analysts currently expect the company to earn $4.39 per share on revenue of $6.23 billion for the full year 2012.
