The United States has strongly condemned the bombing of an Israeli diplomatic vehicle in India and the attempted attack on Israeli Embassy personnel in Georgia on Monday.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a statement that the scourge of terrorism was an affront to the entire international community and pledged U.S. government's readiness to assist with any investigation of these cowardly actions.
She reiterated that the United States placed a high priority on the safety and security of diplomatic personnel around the world.
The Indian security agencies reportedly have received a crucial clue about the assailant who blew up an Israeli Embassy vehicle in the capital New Delhi on Monday.
Tal Yehoshua Korene, the wife of an Israeli Defense attache, was on her way to pick up her children from school, when a bomb attached to her car exploded. In addition to Korene, three others, including the driver, were injured in the explosion.
Korene suffered serious spinal and liver injuries from shrapnel in the device. She underwent surgery in a New Delhi hospital, and is stable, the doctors said.
Indian authorities have initiated an investigation into the attack that took place some 300 meters from the official residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Also, a five-member Israeli team arrived in the Indian capital on Tuesday to investigate the attack.
The first open attack on an Israeli target in India coincided with an attempted bomb attack in Georgia. Police defused a bomb attached to the car of an Israeli diplomat before it could explode in the Georgian capital Tbilisi.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed Iran for both the attacks, which he claimed was jointly executed by Iranian intelligence agencies and the Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah. Iran rejected the accusation.
