OECD Unemployment Rate Stable In December

The unemployment rate in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) area remained unchanged in December, latest data showed Tuesday.

In December, the harmonized unemployment rate remained unchanged from the previous month at 8.2 percent. In October, the jobless rate was 8.3 percent.

The number of unemployed persons in the OECD area decreased by around 1 million from last year to around 44.6 million in December.

In the Eurozone, the unemployment rate remained unchanged month-on-month at 10.4 percent during the month, and remained at the highest level since the crisis started.

At the same time, unemployment rate in the European Union remained steady at 9.9 percent in December. In the United States, the Jobless rate dropped to 8.5 percent from 8.7 percent, while in Canada it remained stable at 7.5 percent.
