Ambassadors of six European Union member-countries have been invited to the Iranian Foreign Ministry for talks on different issues including the EU sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic to force Tehran to abandon its disputed nuclear program.
The envoys of Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Portugal and the Netherlands were the invitees to the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, the state media reported.
They have held separate talks earlier with the Foreign Ministry Director for Western European Affairs. Meanwhile, Iran's domestically produced nuclear fuel rods are scheduled to be loaded into a Tehran research reactor later on Wednesday in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, ISNA reported.
"The first home-made nuclear fuel roads will be loaded in the Tehran nuclear research reactor in the presence of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad," Supreme National Security Council Deputy Secretary Ali Baqeri was quoted by the news agency as saying.
The Tehran research reactor produces radio-isotopes for use in medical treatments and agriculture, the report claimed.
Iran is reeling under several rounds of sanctions by the United States and the EU following its disputed nuclear program, which the West suspects is aimed at developing nuclear weapons, a charge Tehran consistently denies.
