(RTTNews) - Mariah Carey and Beyoncé were named two of the top three 'great women in music,' placing number two and three, respectively, on VH1's "100 Greatest Women in Music," losing out to Madonna, who took home the top spot.
Mary J. Blige (number 9), Janet Jackson (number 7), and Alicia Keys (number 14) were also named to VH1's list, a weeklong countdown that wrapped up on Friday and features the greatest female artists of the last twenty years (those who have released music from 1990 to today).
The top 100 features a slew of influential female artists, including P.J. Harvey, Sheryl Crow, the Spice Girls, Miley Cyrus, Cher, Aaliyah, Ke$ha, Florence and the Machine, Liz Phair, M.I.A. and the White Stripes drummer Meg White, to name a few.
Rounding out the top ten of VH1's "100 Greatest Women in Music" is Pink, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, Adele and Lady GaGa.
