The FDA has issued a warning for the Spinbrush electric toothbrush. The utensil, which has moved over 39 million units under the Crest and Arm & Hammer brands, has been known to disassemble itself while in the mouths of unsuspecting tooth brushers thus potentially wounding its user.

An official with the FDA warned potential victims:

"We've had reports in which parts of the toothbrush broke off during use and were released into the mouth with great speed, causing broken teeth and presenting a choking hazard."

According to the FDA, the head of the device often comes free off the handle while in use.

Arm & Hammer, the product's current manufacturer, has not issued a recall; however, they have advised their customers to "inspect the brush for loose parts before use."
