At least ten soldiers were killed when heavily-armed militants stormed an Army outpost in Pakistan's volatile north-west early on Friday, reports quoting officials said.
The Army repelled the attack in the Teerah Valley area of Khyber tribal region killing at least two dozen militants belonging to the hard-line Lashkar-e-Islam, the report said.
Khyber has been a sanctuary of several militant outfits and security forces have carried out operations in the area in the past, the major being three months ago when about 20,000 residents were evacuated to a camp for internally displaced people in the Peshawar region.
An Army spokesman said the militants invaded the outpost in Teerah valley with heavy weapons and the exchange of fire continued until early morning.
