Blur's Alex James told the BBC that he had no idea that Adele's acceptance speech at the recent Brit Awards was cut short so the band could take the stage.
During the Brit Awards, Adele won the MasterCard British Album of the Year award and had her acceptance speech interrupted and cut short by host James Corden so that Blur could begin their live set.
ITV, which broadcasted the event, and the Brit Award organizers have since apologized.
NME.com reports that James told the BBC Breakfast program that the band were unaware of what was happening on stage.
"That's live telly," James said. "I don't think it overshadowed anything. We were up there backstage and didn't know what was happening until afterwards. I think Adele is amazing and has a fantastic career in front of her."
