A 6.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Lop county in Hotan of China's Xinjiang-Uygur Autonomous Region on Friday, but no reports of casualties or damage to property were received so far from the remote area.
Epicenter of the tremor that struck at 6:50 a.m. local time was located at a depth of 30 kilometers in the central part of China's largest Taklimakan desert where there is no population in 100 square kilometer radius, the Xinhua news agency reported quoting The China Earthquake Network Center.
Local authorities in the regions have sent staff to make door calls in rural areas to check damages, the report said.
