After months of speculation, the Rolling Stones have said that they will not commemorate their 50th anniversary with a tour; instead, it will be pushed back to 2013.
"Basically, we're just not ready. Instead, 2013 is the new goal. I have a feeling that's more realistic," Keith Richards told Rolling Stone magazine.
The mag also cited an anonymous source which said that, for health reasons, Richards might not be able to withstand the rigors of touring.
For his part, Richards did not comment; he did, however, note that he considers 2013 to be the true 50th anniversary of the band:
"The Stones always really considered '63 to be 50 years, because Charlie [Watts] didn't actually join until January. We look upon 2012 as sort of the year of conception, but the birth is next year."
