HBO has confirmed that they will suspend filming with horses on the horse racing drama "Luck" after a third thoroughbred was put down as a result of injuries sustained on set. The horse was euthanized after she became startled in an incident in between shoots, rearing up on her hind legs and hitting her head severely, reports people.com.

Reps from the network released an official statement saying that they have been entirely focused on animal safety from the beginning of the show and have strict protocols in places:

"From the very outset of this project, the safety of the animals was of paramount concern to us," HBO said in a statement. "Everyone associated with Luck cares deeply about the well-being of the horses who are so much a part of the heart and soul of the production."
