El DeBarge was released from prison after posting $30,000 in bail on Monday, March 19. A rep for the Los Angeles County Police Department said he was arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
Debarge was spotted by officers in what appeared to be a drug deal. It is El's third drug related offense since 2001.
In 2008, he was sentenced to two years in prison for violating his probation when found in possession of crack cocaine. He spoke with TheBoomBox.com back then, describing his struggle with drugs:
"It attacks leadership and it just attacks things and it gives you a challenge that you really don't want to have but you have to be strong and we all have the strength."
The "Rhythm of the Night" singer is due in court on April 9.
