Romania's unemployment rate increased from the previous quarter, data from the National Institute of Statistics showed Tuesday.
The jobless rate based on ILO norms was 7.7 percent during the fourth quarter of 2011, up from 7.2 percent in the previous three months. In the fourth quarter of 2010, the unemployment rate was 7.3 percent.
The unemployment rate among youth aged between 15 and 24, reached its highest level of 25.4 percent during the three months ended December.
The employment rate declined 1.2 percentage points from the previous quarter to 57.9 percent. Among youth, the employment rate was 23.1 percent, down from 24.5 percent in the third quarter.
The number of employed persons were 9.042 mln employed persons and the number of unemployed persons stood at 751,000.
