Kenny Chesney has revealed that he was several bottles of wine deep when he reached out to Lionel Richie about collaborating on the soul legend's new country project Tuskegee.

According to Chesney, he knew exactly what song he wanted to work on and was slightly over anxious when he made the initial call.

"I just decided that I was going to call Lionel and tell him I wanted to sing on his record," Kenny told interviewers of the drunk dial. "It was a pretty spirited voicemail, I can tell you that, because I actually sang the verse and like half of the song of 'My Love' onto his voicemail."

Richie later recalled the voicemail as well to countryvibe.com saying:

"'Lionel! Oh my God, Lionel! Oh my God, oh my God! My Love . . . [singing] My looove, just thinkin' about . . . Oh Lionel, I love you. I love you Lionel, I love you!'" Richie joked, giving his best Chesney impersonation.
