Katy Perry has confirmed that her new 3D concert film Katy Perry: Part of Me is set for release in the U.S. on July 4.

The "Firework" singer broke the news while speaking with Kelly Osbourne on the red carpet at the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards.

She said that Independence Day was a fitting release day for the film, and suggested that her fans should "go and see it and be a firework."

Perry is working with Insurge Pictures on the film, and the company recently invited fans to participate in the project via Twitter.

"Katy Perry: Part Of Me is a really fun and engaging movie that celebrates every aspect of Katy's life including her relationship with fans. What better way to kick start the filmmaking process than by inviting her millions of fans on Twitter into her world," said Amy Powell, president of Insurge Picture, via Twitter.
