Madonna Tops Album Chart

Madonna's latest album, MDNA, has debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart, edging out Lionel Richie's country-themed duet LP, Tuskegee.

The Material Girl's new record sold 359,000 copies in its first week, besting the first-week sales of her last LP, 2008's Hard Candy. That effort sold 280,000 in the same time span.

The numbers on MDNA have been linked to Madonna's sales strategy of including a copy of the album with each ticket bought for her upcoming U.S. tour.

Thus far, two singles have been released from the album: "Give Me All Your Luvin," which peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100; and, "Girl Gone Wild," which is Madonna's most viewed vid on YouTube, capturing 32 million hits.

MDNA is the Madonna's fifth number-one studio album and her first on the Interscope label.
