Jennifer Hudson and Bruno Mars were among a host of stars to perform at the Rainforest Fund benefit at Carnegie Hall earlier this week.

Bruno Mars was joined by Sir Elton John to sing a duet of the Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody." Hudson, meanwhile, performed a gospel version of the Band's "The Weight."

Both songs were part of the evening's two-hour "Songs from the Silver Screen" theme, which featured performances from a range of stars including James Taylor, Sting, Roseanne Cash and more. The singers were backed up by the 40-piece St. Luke's Orchestra.

The evening's special guest speaker was none other than former President Bill Clinton. Clinton urged the crowd to realize that the plight of the rainforest was something that impacted everyone in the room.

"You have more in common with those isolated native tribes and those people who know how to care for their habitat than you can possibly imagine," he said.

The Rainforest Fund is a biennial event put together by Trudie Styler and has been going strong since 1988.
