Bahrain said it will not transfer Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja, a political hunger striker, as requested by the Danish government, reports said Sunday.
Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, who is also a Danish citizen, was shifted to a military hospital due to his poor health. Bahrain punished Abdulhadi al-Khawaja with life sentence over protests by the Shia Muslim community.
The Supreme Judiciary Council stated that the provisions of criminal procedures law stipulating the handing over of accused persons to foreign countries does not pertain to the case of Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja, the Bahrain News Agency reported.
