A ballet based on the life Elton John, Love Lies Bleeding, which wowed audiences in Canada, got its television debut on CBC Monday, April 9.
The one-hour TV event was filmed by director Moze Mossanen over a week at the Banff Centre's Eric Harvie Theatre.
The director says he wanted it to be a successful but not slavish adaptation of the Jean Grand-Maitre ballet:
"I really wanted the film to be its own thing, a complete entity."
He said one change is the Elton fan figure, who is more prominent in the made-for-television version.
"We made him a much bigger part of the film, so people get a sense of 'Oh, this guy's imagining himself to be Elton.'"
