The latest installment of Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" franchise has reportedly been rated PG-13 by the MPAA. The news has raised a few eyebrows from parents' groups who think the film may be too violent for children to see without consent from adults.

"The Dark Knight Rises" stars Christian Bale in the lead role as Bruce Wayne and Batman, and will be joined by Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, the character who eventually becomes Catwoman. According to the MPAA the film features "intense sequences of violence and action, some sensuality and language."

The news comes at a time of intense scrutiny for the MPAA, who recently demanded alterations to the Weinstein Company's documentary "Bully" due to expletives. The studio initially refused, choosing a limited unrated release and finally agreed to the changes, also accepting a PG-13 rating.

The country's current number one film "The Hunger Games," which features teens killing each other, also received a PG-13 rating.
