Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich claims he is going all the way and will be in the race until the GOP convention in Tampa.
However, the former Speaker of the House might not make it on the Utah primary ballot after an election official said a filling fee check from his campaign has bounced.
Last month, a member of Gingrich's campaign filled out paperwork so Gingrich's name would be put on the ballot for the June 26th primary in Utah. The representative also issued a check for the required $500 filing fee, KSL reported.
Less than two weeks later, the office received notification that a check bounced, Mark Thomas, director of elections for the Utah Lieutenant Governor's office, told KSL.
Thomas said his office has sent several emails, made several calls, and on Monday, sent the campaign a certified letter. So far, the Utah office has not heard back from Gingrich about the check.
His campaign still has time to get his name on the ballot.
"We do need payment before we will certify Gingrich's name for the ballot," Thomas told KSL. "We gave them the deadline of April 20th to get that into our office."
Gingrich has acknowledged that his campaign is $4.5 million in debt and that he has had to contribute money from his personal funds.
After Rick Santorum suspended his presidential campaign on Tuesday, Gingrich sent an email to supporters saying he was the "the last conservative standing."
