While Mitt Romney leads on economic and energy issues, Americans consider President Barack Obama the more likable and inspiring presidential candidate, according to a new poll.
A Washington Post and ABC News poll found that 64 percent say Obama is the "more friendly and likable person" compared to 26 percent for Romney. Additionally, 55 percent of those surveyed say Obama is most inspiring compared to 29 percent who say Romney is.
When it comes to who best would handle the economy, Romney leads Obama 47 to 43 percent.
According to the poll, 51 percent believe Romney can best handle the federal budget deficit compared to 38 percent who think Obama can. Also, Romney leads Obama 47 to 42 percent in handling energy policy.
Obama leads Romney in addressing social issues: 53 to 34 percent on women's issues; and 46 to 38 percent in dealing with abortion and gay marriage issues.
Obama also tops Romney when it comes to who best would deal with international affairs, with 53 percent to Romney's 36 percent.
The survey of 1,103 people was conducted by telephone April 5-8.
