Netherlands' merchandise trade surplus decreased from last year in February, data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics showed Friday.
The trade surplus decreased to EUR2.9 billion in February from EUR3.9 billion in the same period last year.
Export of goods increased a calendar-adjusted. 3.8 percent annually in February, after rising 1.7 percent in January. The volume of imports grew 7.2 percent during the month, sharply faster than the previous month's 0.2 percent rise.
In value terms, total shipments increased 11 percent year-on-year to EUR36 billion in February. The value of imports advanced 16 percent to EUR33.1 billion during the month.
The agency said Netherlands' export prices increased 3.9 percent from last year in February, after gaining 4.4 percent in January. Import prices rose at a slower rate of 3.4 percent than the previous month's 3.7 percent increase.
