The Canadian dollar lost ground on Monday morning in New York as weak oil prices prompted traders to flee from the resource-linked loonie.

The Canadian currency is presently trading at a 7-week low of 80.22 against the yen and a 2-day low of 1.0026 against the US dollar.

Against the euro, the loonie is presently worth 1.3090, down from a weekly high of 1.3010 hit in the Asian session.

On the downside, the Canadian dollar may find target levels at 1.31 against the euro, 80.0 against the yen and 1.0035 against the greenback.
