Syntel Inc. (SYNT) reported first quarter EPS of $0.98 Thursday morning, up from $0.60 in the prior year period. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $0.75. The company now expects to report full year 2012 EPS of $3.40 to $3.65, up from prior expectations of $3.10 to $3.35. The consensus estimate is for EPS of $3.28.
Syntel gapped up sharply Thursday and climbed in early trade, before settling into a range. The stock ended the day higher by 7.37 at $61.21 on strong volume. Syntel broke out of a 2-month range and closed challenging resistance at the highs of the year, trading at a 9-month high.
