Virgin Produced has purchased the film rights to Exile on Main Street: a Season in Hell, Robert Greenfield's book about the making of the 1972 Rolling Stones album, signaling that a movie version of the tale is in the works.

The film, like the book by Greenfield, centers on the "professional and personal relationship between head Stones Mick Jagger and Keith Richards as the band record their classic Exile on Main Street album in the south of France in the summer of 1971," according to deadline.com.

Exile features such classic tracks as "Rocks Off," "Tumbling Dice," "I Just Want to See His Face" and "Shine a Light."

Meanwhile, director Brett Morgan is at work on his documentary which will chronicle activities surrounding the group's 50th anniversary. That doc is due in September.
