London's Headlong Theatre Company has reportedly signed on to produce a musical version of Bret Easton Ellis' cult favorite novel "American Psycho." According to the U.K.'s Independent, the show will feature music by Duncan Sheik, who previously won a Grammy Award for his work on "Spring Awakening."
The show has been in production for several years and was adapted from Ellis' novel by "Spider-Man: Turn of the Dark" writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Speaking on the music Sheik told the New York Post in 2010: "Think about Malcolm McDowell singing songs during A Clockwork Orange. He sang Singing in the Rain."
Aguirre-Sacasa adds of the script: "There are murders, and they are on stage in full view of the audience. I think there's going to be a lot of blood."
Ellis also made headlines last month when he dropped the hint that he may be considering a sequel to the book. He hit Twitter noting: "Sitting at my desk finishing a script and suddenly I'm making notes on where Patrick Bateman's now."
