Everest Re Group (RE) reported first quarter adjusted EPS of $4.48 after the bell Wednesday, compared to the loss of $5.95 last year. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $3.45.
Everest Re Group gapped up at the open Wednesday and climbed during the first hour of trade, before settling into a range. The stock closed up by 4.31 at $99.74 on the highest volume of the year. Everest Re spiked to a new high for the year.
