West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. (WFT.TO) Monday reported first-quarter loss of C$16.7 million or C$0.39 per share, compared to earnings of C$18.9 million or C$0.44 per share last year.
Adjusted loss from continuing operations for the quarter was C$11 million or C$0.26 per basic share, compared to earnings of C$39 million or C$0.91 per share last year.
On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected loss of C$0.11 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Sales for the quarter dropped to C$681 million from C$687 million last year. Analysts estimated revenues of C$672.52 million for the quarter.
Total cost and expenses increased to C$703 million from C$652.1 million last year.
