Kulicke & Soffa Q2 Profit Declines - Quick Facts

Kulicke & Soffa Industries, Inc. (KLIC) reported second-quarter net income of $16.62 million or $0.22 per share compared to $39.89 million or $0.54 per share last year.

Total net revenue for the quarter fell year-over-year to $146.31 million from $206.73 million.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.15 per share on revenues of $132.50 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Looking forward, the company expects net revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2012 to be around $220 million to $240 million, reflecting the ongoing transition from gold to copper, strength across all its product lines, combined with an improvement in the broader semiconductor industry led by positive equipment inventory trends, capacity levels and end market growth drivers. Analysts anticipate revenues of $197.32 million for the quarter.
