Energizer Holdings Inc. (ENR) Wednesday released the financial results for the second quarter ended March 31, 2012, reporting that net earnings for the quarter surged up to $77.9 million or $1.17 per share from $39.10 million or $0.55 per share reported for the corresponding second quarter last year.
Excluding adjustments, non-GAAP earnings for the second quarter increased to $80.8 million, or $1.22 per diluted share, from $73.60 million, or $1.04 per diluted share, reported for the year-ago quarter last year.
Twelve analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $1.08 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimate typically exclude special items
Net sales for the second quarter increased to $1.10 billion from $1.03 billion in the year earlier quarter.
Analysts expected net sales of $1.04 billion for the quarter.
