EasyJet Plc (EZJ.L) Friday reported a 2.8 percentage point improvement in April 2012 to 89.3% from 86.5% last year. Total passengers, representing the number of earned seats flown, were 5.12 million, a 8.6% increase from 4.72 million in April 2011.

The company noted that earned seats include seats that are flown whether or not the passenger turns up because easyJet is a no-refund airline, and once a flight has departed a no-show customer is generally not entitled to change flights or seek a refund. Earned seats also include seats provided for promotional purposes and to staff for business travel.

For the rolling 12 months, load factor advanced 1.0 percentage points to 88.2% from 87.2% a year earlier. Passenger volumes were 7.1% higher at 56.20 million.
